Horny Toad represents our “Grandfather.” in the Diné (Navajo) way. In Navajo we called it “Cheii.” Our Cheii is armored in spikey horns all over his body. Our Cheii is our protector. When you see one you pick it up, rub it against your chest, and say a prayer. Therefore the saying goes, “Cheii Has My Back.”
